AI & Smart Cities for Real Estate Management (AWE)

This elective course introduces students to the evolving relationship between real estate management and smart city development. It focuses on foundational smart city concepts and AI-enhanced urban analytics, including geospatial tools, spatial and real estate valuation data, as well as real-world case studies of smart cities in Europe—such as Aspern Seestadt in Vienna. Students will explore how real estate assets are influenced by technological, spatial, and market dynamics in smart urban environments. The Students will also participate at the ISCN Smart City University Challenge 2025 on November 29 2025, organized by the GIZ - Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit

Learning Objectives

Throughout this course students will be able to:

  • Understand the basic principles of sustainable smart cities and their real estate implications.
  • Analyze how urban data and geospatial intelligence and tools affect real estate markets.
  • Apply simple AI tools and data sources to evaluate urban conditions and real estate potential.
  • Critically reflect on the ethical, business, and environmental impact of data-driven real estate strategies.
